Corpus Christi, Texas (Dec. 12, 2011)– CPL Retail Energy and the Corpus Christi IceRays held food drives during three November home games and collected almost 1,300 pounds of canned and dried goods that will be used to feed families throughout the Coastal Bend.
CPL and IceRays officials along with IceRays player Dmitry Ermakov delivered the goods at 9 a.m. Monday, Dec. 12, to the Food Bank of Corpus Christi.
“This is the time of year, more than any other, when we stop and we do what we can for others,” said Jim Steffes, Vice President of CPL Retail Energy. “The food drive called on our community to do the same and they did not disappoint. This food will go to feed families that truly need it this Christmas.”
Bea Hanson, the Food Bank’s executive director, was excited about the IceRays and CPL Retail Energy donation. The Food Bank provides items to more than 100 organizations such as homeless shelters, Communities in Schools and local churches as well as individuals/families.
